VIRGIN MEDIA SHORTS COMPETITION Last chance to submit your shorts! Virgin Media have announced that Kevin Spacey will be joining the judging panel for Virgin Media Shorts, the first ever short film competition to run across four platforms - TV, cinema, mobile and Internet. The competition aims to find the best up and coming British film makers. Kevin Spacey will also be joined by; Oscar-nominated short film director, Daniel Barber, Founder and chairman of the Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson, Lenny Crooks, Head of the New Cinema Fund of the UK Film Council. Filmmakers can now submit their short film (no longer than 2mins 30 seconds) online and take part in the competition. The top 12 films will be blown up to a 35 mm print and shown on 211 cinema screens across the UK. The winner will be given the chance to work directly with the UK Film Council and Virgin Media to develop and produce their next short film with a budget of up to £30,000. BBC PERFORMING ARTS FUND

DepicT! offers emerging filmmakers the opportunity to win a range of unique prizes and to gain priceless exposure through Encounters International Short Film Festival, the Digital Screen Network, depict.org and beyond. Judges, who in the past have included directors Peter Jackson, Terry Gilliam and Royston Tan, film critic Nigel Floyd and Aardman AnimationsÕ David Sproxton, are looking to discover distinctive voices which evidence originality, creativity and the ability to engage the viewer. *First Prize: £2000 cash*NFTS DepicT!
