Eil08This is the project page for the EIL 2008 visit of 12 American young filmmakers to the UK
Offered a great selection of activities, the US and UK groups decide to 'hang out'... 12 young filmmakers from the US are in the UK as part of the EIL programme to make a film about youth culture. After sightseeing in London, they arrived in Derby where they met a group of young filmmakers from Derby. After learning filmmaking skills with Film City, the group then departed to travel around England, making their film as they go. The US group return to Derby in late July to edit the film and reunite with the UK group. Before they left Derby, the US group created and agreed to a memorandum where they agreed to work as a film crew: BLOGS Caroline (CaroLiddick) Libby
EIL America does the UK 2008 final blogs Ok, so this is Kelly and Hayley, and Simone. But anyway. So after we left Derby so many weeks ago we moved onto Gloucester to chill with our host families. I'm taking over now. I type faster. So anyways, this is Hayley. My host family experience was...an experience. Totally and completely different from what I expected, yet I'm really glad I got the chance to stay with a british family. What about you Kellz? I don't think that little introduction was completely necessary...Anyway I was staying in the home with another chika named Caroline Liddick (caraliddick) and we had 2 spanish girls and 2 french students in the same house as well. So we got 3 cultures in one! Yippee. Simone? My family was really cool, they were hippies and totes chill. Me and Libley hung out a lot with their kids and we had a great time even though NO ONE was allowed to visit us, ahem ahem... Well, we didn't do much filming in gloucester, and the events we did do were quiet, and were not really related to the film so, ONTO BRADFORD!! In Bradford we really really got immersed in Asian culture, lots of curry...some of us were having interesting restroom experiences `:) but we filmed an immense amount of footage there and met Mic who pulled tons of strings for us, we got to interview a DJ and the Mayor and some youths! Anyhoo, my favorite (hayley) by far was Liverpool, the culture, music and style of dress were amazing, i would absolutely love to live there one day. We met tons of interesting people in liverpool, and got to go to see gigs and meet musicians n such. That was my favorite too, Hayley (Simone). The atmosphere was vibrant and alive and I felt really comfortable and at home there. The gigs were awesome and may I just say that I LOVE THE BEATLES!! It is now our last day in Derby and honestly it's ridiculously hard to believe. It feels like the whole trip has gone by in a blur, even though we've done so much. We've made some amazing friendships here and have had great times that could never be replaceable, ever. Don't you dare forget about us-keep in touch!!! Thanks so much to EVERYONE who contributed to making our trip so great, and to everyone in our group and David and Shukri, we love you!!
